Dear Emily,
I’d like to tell you about my holiday in Italy. It was my dream to visit Rome, the capital, and I finally did it this summer.
The first thing we visited was the Colosseum. Standing in front of this enormous building, I imagined the gladiators fighting inside almost two thousand years ago. Our guide told us many stories about Roman emperors and the life of people in those times.
Another unforgettable place was the Vatican. We visited St. Peter’s Basilica, which is one of the most beautiful churches in the world. Inside we saw wonderful paintings, sculptures, and even climbed to the top of the dome to see the whole city below.
One day we walked along the narrow streets of Trastevere, a district full of old houses, small shops, and cafés. It was very atmospheric, and we tried real Italian pizza there. In the evenings we often sat at the Spanish Steps and watched people from all over the world.
Rome is not only history — it is a very lively and modern city too. I enjoyed the fashion shops, the music in the streets, and the friendly people. This trip gave me so many memories, and I hope to go back to Italy again.

Good morning! Today we would like to tell you about the new exhibition at the City History Museum. It is called The Life of the Middle Ages. Visitors can see models of castles, suits of armour, and everyday objects that people used hundreds of years ago. There is also a collection of old maps, which shows how people imagined the world in the past.
The exhibition will be open until the end of June. The museum works from Tuesday to Sunday, 9 am to 7 pm. On Thursdays it closes later, at 9 pm. Tickets cost 400 rubles for adults, 200 rubles for students, and children under 7 can visit free of charge. Family tickets are also available at the entrance and online.
The museum is located near Victory Park, opposite the big theatre. Visitors are asked not to use flash when taking photographs. If you get hungry, you can visit the museum café, which offers snacks, sandwiches, and hot drinks. On weekends there are special guided tours in English at 1 pm and 4 pm.
