Dear Tom,
I want to tell you about my weekend trip to Moscow. It was short but very exciting.
On Saturday morning we visited Red Square. It was amazing to stand in the middle of such a famous place. We saw St. Basil’s Cathedral with its colourful domes, the State Historical Museum, and the Kremlin walls. I took a lot of photos.
After that, we went to the Tretyakov Gallery. It has one of the best collections of Russian art. My favourite painting was by Ivan Shishkin — a beautiful picture of a forest. The gallery was quite crowded, but I enjoyed it a lot.
On Sunday we went to Moscow Metro. I know it sounds strange, but it is like an underground museum. Some stations are decorated with mosaics, statues, and chandeliers. Our guide explained the history of the metro and showed us the most famous stations.
In the evening we went to Arbat Street, where there were many artists and souvenir shops. I bought a matryoshka doll for my sister. We also had dinner in a traditional restaurant and tried borscht and pancakes with jam.
I think Moscow is a great city with so many things to see. I hope to return there one day!
