Dear Kate,
I have just returned from a wonderful trip to Spain. We spent a week in Barcelona, a city that combines history, art, and the sea.
On the first day we walked along La Rambla, the most famous street in the city. It was full of shops, cafés, and street performers. I bought some small souvenirs and enjoyed watching the people. In the evening we went to the beach, where many locals were swimming even in October!
The next day we visited Sagrada Familia, the famous church designed by the architect Antoni Gaudí. It is still not finished, but it already looks like something from another world. Our guide explained how long it has been under construction — more than one hundred years!
Another highlight was Park Güell, also designed by Gaudí. It was colourful and full of mosaics. From the top of the park we saw the whole city and the sea beyond.
In the evenings we often had dinner in small restaurants, where I tried traditional Spanish dishes like paella and tapas. The food was delicious. I also noticed that people in Barcelona like eating late — sometimes restaurants were full at 10 pm!
I think Barcelona is a city of contrasts: old Gothic buildings, modern shops, and the Mediterranean Sea. It is a place where everyone can find something to enjoy.

Good morning! The City Art Centre invites you to the International Photography Festival, which will take place next week. Photographers from over twenty-five countries will present their works.
