✅ Solutions

Task 1. Listening transcript (long version)

Girl: Hi Nick, have you started preparing our presentation?
Boy: Not really, Kate. I don’t even like the topic.
Girl: Why not? It’s about geography, isn’t it?
Boy: Yes, but honestly, it’s boring. Mountains, rivers, maps… I’d prefer literature.
Girl: Come on, it can be fun. We can use pictures and even short videos to make it more interesting.
Boy: Videos? That might work. But I still feel nervous about speaking in front of the class.
Girl: Don’t worry. We’ll practise together. Practice makes perfect.
Boy: When shall we do it?
Girl: How about Thursday?
Boy: Thursday is fine. Where?
Girl: At my house. We can work on the computer and make slides.
Boy: Good idea. I’ll bring my notes.
Girl: Great. And maybe we can make a short quiz for the class at the end.
Boy: That’s clever. A quiz will keep everyone interested.
Girl: So, Thursday at my house, then?
Boy: Yes. Let’s start right after lunch.
Girl: Perfect. It will be ready on time!

Task 7. Writing — sample answer

Hello Sarah,
Thanks for your letter. After school I usually go home and have lunch with my family. Twice a week I go to the swimming pool, because sport helps me relax after lessons. I also attend a computer club on Fridays, where we learn to create small programs and games. In the evenings I do my homework and sometimes watch films or listen to music. At weekends I spend more time with my friends. I think it’s important to balance study, hobbies, and rest.
How often do you train in your dance club? What kind of dances do you perform? Do you travel to other cities for your shows?
Write soon!
Best wishes,
Your friend
