✅ Solutions

Task 1. Listening transcript (long version)

Boy: Hi Kate, have you already planned your summer holidays?
Girl: Yes, I’m so excited! My family is going to Spain.
Boy: Wow, abroad? That must be amazing.
Girl: Yes, it’s my first time travelling to another country. We’ll stay near the sea.
Boy: That sounds great. I wanted to go to the seaside too, but my parents prefer the mountains.
Girl: Oh, the mountains are nice as well. You can hike and breathe fresh air.
Boy: True, but sometimes it’s tiring, and I’d rather swim.
Girl: At least it won’t be too hot. Spain in July is very warm.
Boy: Maybe. But our problem is money. Travelling abroad is expensive, and we have a small budget this year.
Girl: Yes, flights and hotels cost a lot. But still, it’s worth it.
Boy: Perhaps. Anyway, I think the most important thing is spending time with family.
Girl: I agree. Holidays are not only about places, but also about people you are with.
Boy: Right. So, what will you do in Spain?
Girl: Swim, go sightseeing, and practise my English.
Boy: That’s useful. When you come back, let’s share our holiday photos.
Girl: Good idea! We can even show them in class.
Boy: Perfect. It’ll be like a small presentation.
Girl: Great! I can’t wait.

Task 7. Writing — sample answer

Hello Emma,
Thanks for your letter. My favourite subject at school is English, because I love learning new words and reading stories. I also enjoy history lessons, since our teacher explains events very clearly. Mathematics is a bit difficult for me, but I try to practise every day. I like teachers who make lessons interesting and give us useful projects. I think a good teacher can make any subject more exciting.
What experiments do you do in biology lessons? Do you often work in groups? What is your biology teacher like?

Best wishes,
