✅ Solutions

Task 1. Listening transcript (long version)

Boy: Hi Kate, I’m thinking about finding a part-time job.
Girl: Really? Why? You already have so much schoolwork.
Boy: I want to save money for university. My parents can help, but I’d like to contribute myself.
Girl: That’s responsible of you. Have you thought about working in a café?
Boy: I did, but I heard it’s hard.
Girl: Yes, customers can be rude, and you often work late.
Boy: Exactly. I’d prefer something quieter, like a bookstore.
Girl: That sounds better. At least you’ll be surrounded by books.
Boy: Or maybe delivering newspapers, but that’s too early in the morning.
Girl: True. But don’t you think jobs take too much time away from studying?
Boy: That’s the problem. But if I manage my time, it could work.
Girl: So, what should you do first?
Boy: Maybe look online for options.
Girl: Let’s do it together! Or we could ask older students.
Boy: Even better, let’s talk to the school career advisor.
Girl: Good idea. She’ll give us advice.

Task 7. Writing — sample answer

Hello Daniel,
Thanks for your letter. At my school technology is also used in lessons. We have interactive whiteboards and computers in some classrooms. Sometimes we use tablets, but usually only for projects. I think technology can help a lot if you use it correctly, because it makes studying faster and more interesting. Still, some students get distracted, so teachers try to control it. Personally, I prefer a balance: reading books, writing by hand, and using technology when needed.
Do your teachers allow you to take tablets home? Do you use them in every subject? What apps do you usually use for studying?
Write soon!
Best wishes,
Your friend
