Emma’s Day as a Wildlife Volunteer
Emma had always been fascinated by animals, but she never imagined she would get the chance to work with them up close. Last summer, she volunteered at a wildlife rescue center, and it turned out to be one of the most rewarding experiences of her life.
Her day started early in the morning when she helped prepare food for the animals. She was responsible for feeding the birds and small mammals. Each species had a specific diet, so she had to follow detailed instructions.
After feeding time, Emma assisted in cleaning enclosures and checking that the animals were comfortable. She learned how to handle injured animals with care and even helped a veterinarian examine a young fox that had been found weak and hungry near a road.
One of the most exciting parts of her job was watching the animals being released back into the wild. Emma felt proud knowing that her efforts had helped them recover.
At the end of the summer, she knew that she wanted to continue working with animals in the future. She planned to study biology and become a wildlife conservationist.
A. Why was Emma excited about her volunteer work?
- She wanted to become a veterinarian.
- She had never worked with animals before.
- She enjoyed cleaning animal enclosures.
- She had seen a rare bird.
B. What was one of Emma’s tasks at the center?
- Teaching visitors about animals.
- Taking photographs of wildlife.
- Preparing food for the animals.
- Training animals to return to the wild.
C. What animal did Emma help a veterinarian examine?
- A baby deer.
- A young fox.
- An injured owl.
- A stray cat.
D. What did Emma decide at the end of the summer?

«Welcome to the new environmental center, a place for people who want to learn about nature and sustainability! The center is located next to the university, making it convenient for students and researchers.
Our visitors can enjoy a variety of activities. One of the most popular is our guided nature walks, which are free for all guests. We also have tree-planting workshops and documentary screenings about the environment.
We organize educational lectures twice a month, covering topics like climate change and wildlife conservation. If you get hungry, our café serves organic food and fresh juices. The center is open daily, and on Saturdays, we close at 6 PM.
However, unlike other environmental centers, we do not have a rock climbing wall, but we plan to add one in the future!»

Hi Oliver,
Thanks for your email! Becoming a software engineer sounds like a great career choice. In the future, I’d like to be an architect because I enjoy designing buildings.
Architecture interests me because it combines creativity and problem-solving. I love drawing and imagining how different structures can look. It’s exciting to see ideas turn into real buildings!
I think architects need to be good at math, have great attention to detail, and be able to work in a team. What kind of technology are you most interested in? Looking forward to your reply!
Best,
